idk if aegis plans to go with these free forums for good or to move to something else, but i do know that i'd rather stay somewhere other than colboard...

there are too many problems and there is no way to keep things under control...and i'd be super pissed if we didn't have somewhere to convene when the show returns on Monday...

so i think that we should boycott Colboard! if it does go back up though, i think that we should just link other members here...

As much as I agree that the colboard kinda sucks, I don't want to abandon them like that...what will the TCR staff think if all their fans suddenly stop posting obsessively about them?

in the past, I actually gave serious though to making my boards the only boards, just locking everything and posting the link here. But that has two problems:

1st, this isn't the official board. As craptastic as the colboards are, they are still assoicated with CC. I also have reason to believe that CN is going to be renovated in the future, not right away, but not too far away either.

2nd, these boards really aren't that good. They're free, and you kinda get what you pay for. Slow, and they don't have the same relyability as the colboards (ironic, I know, but I doubt they can handle the stress we would put on them).

I haven't given up on the colbert nation yet, and so long as it is running, thats where I'm gonna be posting

It just doesn't seem that Viacom or anyone else is going to take having an official board or an official message board seriously. It seems more like they threw them out there because it's expected, with no idea whatsoever as to what makes a quality or usable website. colbertnation.com is just the crappiest layout ever and the colboard is only as good as policed.

Since the abusive fools who are supposed to be banned are not, all the good users who don't wish to be bothered have long since given up and left, and the rest of the good users who remain have to put up with the database periodically going south (as it has been lately) or the abusive fools rushing in and out making asses of themselves. The one good thing was having added 'ignore' so people can opt out of viewing the abusive fools posts -- but geez, when you read a thread and 2/3 of the posts within it are blanked out, it becomes a bit of a waste of time.

Stephen deserves better and so do his fans. I don't think Viacom or anyone else is ever going to fix the situation. It's an embarrassment.

I'm glad Aegis isn't giving up but the deck is getting stacked higher and higher against the mods - with no administrative support, they have to constantly deal with doing damage control, and it seems that all the other mods have left it to Aegis to manage on his own. If so, it seems to me he should just be made the Administrator of the Boards and the nofactzone person should end up being the official colbertnation information site instead of the current one (which has always been mostly a joke). At least the damn MS Paint junk went away (thank god for small miracles).

It's a neon gateway for the very general public for political/social awareness.

As much as I'd like the colboard to be better I don't see it happening, I hope Aegis is right and they will be getting an upgrade not too far away.

I also don't see how in light of past 'problems' the operators/owners of colboard/colbertnation can let it continue the way it is unless they maintain their almost complete 'hands off' policy=no real administrator. That just leaves us in the same boat we are in now. Otherwise they will have to change the site and make it like nearly every other which would probably drive away a good number of the current membership but more than likely bring in many more fans who are put off by the site and the current members and how they interact/behave.
